About INPUT

國際公共電視組織INPUT(International Public TV Screening Conference),30餘多年來巡迴在全球各城市舉行年會,是舉世矚目的電視界年會。

INPUT (INternational PUblic Television Screening Conference) is an annual weeklong television showcase where the rules of broadcasting are challenged and redefined. This event is the only international conference that focuses specifically on innovative programs.

In recognition that a great many working TV professionals cannot make it to INPUT each year, Best of INPUT, also known as Mini-INPUT, are held in more than 30 countries to allow greater access for all. Public Television Service, one of the key members of INPUT, has been organizing Best of INPUT since 2004. This year, for the first time, the event will take place in both northern and southern Taiwan, to allow more local audiences and professionals to better exchange viewpoints.

Best of INPUT

Mini-INPUT & Best of INPUT

In recognition that a great many working TV professionals cannot make it to INPUT each year, Mini-INPUT's and Best of INPUT's, are held in more than 30 countries to allow greater access for all each year.

Mini-INPUT's focus on the edition in the same year, and take place after the INPUT Conference which is held each year in May.
Best of INPUT's in contrast may focus on the previous three years of INPUT pre-ceding the event.

These events are usually organised by the National Coordinators, the Goethe Institut and/or other partners of INPUT - depending on where the Mini-INPUT of Best of INPUT will take place.

Under the Public Television Act, Public Television Service (PTS) of Taiwan--- as an independent, non-profit station established in July 1998--- aims to serve the interests of the public, raise broadcasting standards in Taiwan, safeguard the public's freedom of expression and access to knowledge, and enhance national education and culture. The media content in Taiwan is overwhelmingly commercialized as the result of intense competition. Thus, PTS is catering to audiences overlooked by commercial television, including children, senior citizens, minority groups, and the disabled. PTS programming serves as a window on the diversity of life in Taiwan and abroad, and seeks to provide greater depth than ratings-driven television might allow. [More]

It took Taiwan 18 long years of preparation to see its first public service broadcaster PTS (Public Television Service Foundation) come to life. Now it is accelerating its path to catch up with what it has missed. On July 1st , 2006 , PTS at its 8th anniversary ceremony officially married the 35-year-old, previously government-owned Chinese Television System (CTS). The two major terrestrial networks have hence merged and formed Taiwan Broadcasting System (TBS). Furthermore, starting from 2007, three other TV channels (Hakka TV, Indigenous TV and Taiwan Macroview TV) will also join the group under the administration of PTS to provide a more influential and effective public service broadcasting in Taiwan.
